About Bait Boards Direct New Zealand
We know there's nothing better than a great day out on the water, but we also know that juggling bait, tackle and gear can get messy. That's where we come in. Bait Boards Direct is an Australian workshop that builds fibreglass bait boards and ships them direct to New Zealand anglers — no local distributor in between, and no markup for the privilege.
We're all about quality, simplicity, and products that actually work. Our bait boards are designed by fishing enthusiasts who understand the struggles of real anglers. Whether you're a weekend warrior or a seasoned pro, we've got a bait board that'll make your setup smoother, cleaner, and more efficient.
But it's not just about the products, it's about the experience. We're passionate about fishing, and everything we do is to help you make the most of your time on the water. From sunrise casts to sunset reels, we're here to support your adventures with gear that won't let you down.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to provide anglers with durable, reliable, and practical bait boards that make every fishing trip smoother and more enjoyable. We're here to support your passion for fishing with high-quality products designed by people who love the water as much as you do.
Why an Australian workshop sells into New Zealand
New Zealand has a serious trailer-boat culture and not much local manufacturing of fibreglass bait boards. Most of what is available here is imported plastic, or a fabricated aluminium tray from a general marine workshop. Neither is a bad product, but neither is what we build.
We hand-lay our boards in fibreglass in South East Melbourne — the same process, and largely the same materials, that go into boat hulls. That means a moulded shell with UV-stable gelcoat rather than a bent sheet, an integrated sink formed into the board rather than bolted on, and 316 marine-grade stainless at every fixing. It also means we can ship the finished article to New Zealand and still land at a sensible price, because we are selling to you directly instead of through a distributor and a retailer.
What you give up is speed. A Melbourne customer might have a board within a few days; a New Zealand order takes roughly two to three weeks once the Tasman crossing is accounted for. We quote that honestly rather than hiding it at checkout, because a bait board is a considered purchase and nobody minds waiting a fortnight for the right one.
